This beautiful Hammond Multiplex typewriter is a rare version with the Ideal (half moon) keyboard. By the time the Multiplex was introduced in 1913, most users where using the QWERTY- (universal) keyboard. A small amount of Half-moon (Ideal) keyboards were manufactured. Hence this version of a Hammond is a rare find today.

This nice specimen comes with a base and a case. It is sold as a display antique and is not working. Its serial number 110.358 means this is manufactured in 1915. Very well preserved, please see pictures for its outstanding cosmetic condition. Case has served well to protect this machine for a century.

The Hammond Typewriter was the first office typewriter that appeared as a true alternative to the Remington Standard 2. It was a shape and model that would survive for decades. Overall a genuinely antique significant typewriter from the beginning of the typewriter era.
