Typewriter SALTER 6 (1900) rare (low s#) antique vintage typewriter writing machine with base and case original writing machine

This beautiful Salter 6 typewriter (1900) is one of the first of the model 6. It has the early flat frame, and is hence not an 'improved 6' (like most), but a 'true' 6. It has serial number 4.027, and was manufactured in 1900. The Salter is one of the first typewriters manufactured in England, by George Salter & Co., West Bromwich. This model is well known for its two pillars that support the cover over the type bars.

This item has good decals, which is a blessing given the overall antique wear. In comes with its case (which is rare). The case is rusted, but again the decals survived. The typewriter It is not complete and not in working condition. Please note the crack in the frame in the close up photo. This crack does not seem to be a problem for its overall stability (this part of the frame is supported by other parts of the frame. So the crack does not move if forced - it seems only visual). The typewriter is sold as a display and collectors item. This is a superb machine if you want to display a typewriter, and at the same time want it to be historically significant. Although the number 6 might fool some, this is actually the second model of Salter Typewriters. Production started with model 5.

Overall a genuinely antique significant typewriter from the beginning of the typewriter era.
