extremely nice HELIOS model 1. The Helios is the first model of the Helios Klimax line. It is a rare early index typewriter, built in 1909-1914. It was manufactured in Germany by Helios-Schreibmaschinen-Fabrik. The Helios has 21 keys with a triple shift system (which is unique). The serial number of this specimen is 5257, so it was manufactured in 1912. The machine is rare, and rarely in such a good condition. The case is a rare find as well.

This specimen seems to be complete. It is sold as display 'not-working' because I know to little about the technique to be sure everything works as it should. It seems to work mechanically. But it will need serious maintenance to get it working perfectly again.

Sold as superb display piece for serious collectors. A real eye-catcher and conversational piece. An elegant office antique.
