he German Empire is a very early predecessor of the Adler 7. This is a rare "Deutsche Empire". One of the first German typewriters, made and named after the Canadian Wellington Empire.
In the starting period of Adlerwerke in Frankfurt (1898-1900), the name "Adler" was not yet used on these machines. This machine has serial number 1.772 and is hence manufactured in either 1899 or 1900. From 1900 on the machine was called Adler, and finally it was named Adler 7 and became the most successful thrust action machine in history. Unfortunately the decals have worn out, but the german name is visible in the right light. Also a serious collector would notice the Adler changes on the Empire model. This is a seriously rare collector's item.

With original base and case with antique wear. Lock is not present. The case has protected this machine for more than a century. Serial number 1772.
A real eye-catcher and conversational piece. An elegant and mostly significant office antique.
